TIOGAGARA: WHERE EDUCATION AND THE LAND NURTURE THE FUTURE

TIOGAGARA: WHERE EDUCATION AND THE LAND NURTURE THE FUTURE

4 YEARS OF STRUGGLE. EXTRAORDINARY RESILIENCE.

When we discovered the situation of the students in Tiogagara, Burkina Faso, it was alarming: a school without roofs, no cafeteria, and no teacher.

In 2019, a teacher from Ouagadougou was assigned to the school. His arrival in Tiogagara is recounted in the film Être Prof, released in 2022.

To provide him with the resources needed for teaching, we restored the school’s infrastructure and created a vegetable garden, which allowed the opening of a school cafeteria.

However, in 2023, faced with increasing insecurity in the country, the residents were forced to flee, abandoning the school and the garden. We supported them during this emergency relocation by setting up a temporary school in a warehouse using the tables and benches from Tiogagara and providing food aid. Despite the challenges, our commitment remained unwavering. We continued to believe in this project.

Today, we are proud to announce that the school and the garden are once again operational.

The residents have returned, and the children are back on their way to school in Tiogagara. More than just a place to grow food, the garden embodies our commitment and the resilience of the entire community. By ensuring regular access to food, it plays a key role in children’s education. By providing a sustainable source of nourishment, the vegetable garden and orchard benefit the entire Tiogagara community 950 residents and encourage families to send their children to school, opening up better opportunities for their future.

Today, they continue. Let’s help them hold on.
